It’s really, really hard to stop – or even slow down – CJ Kirst.
The Leading Edge 2020 and Delbarton alum recently broke Cornell‘s all-time career goals record. Now, he’s working on putting the record well out of reach.
Kirst put up a ludicrous nine-goal, one-assist day to help the Big Red upend Yale, 19-14, in an Ivy League battle Saturday.
The Tewaaraton favorite, Kirst only needed 13 shots to get his nine tallies. That performance vaulted him to No. 1 nationally in goals scored. He also added three ground balls and two caused turnovers. As it turns out, he’s really good.
’23 Cole Cashion (Rumson-Fair Haven) pocketed a pair of goals for the Bulldogs. Yale also got a pair of ground balls from ’22 LSM Konrad Miklaszewski (Montclair).
Vermont 14, Bryant 12
’22 Cullen Decker (Vermont) set up a trio of goals, scored one and grabbed a ground ball for the Catamounts.
’24 Jordan Hernando (Mountain Lakes) took home three faceoff wins and grabbed two ground balls for the Bulldogs.
Delaware 12, Marist 10
Delaware 18, Hampton 3
’23 John McCurry (Wall) was at the forefront of a pair of Blue Hen wins. He hit the Red Foxes for two assists, two ground balls and two caused turnovers. Delaware kept rolling against Hampton thanks to McCurry’s hat trick and ground ball.
Virginia 14, Utah 9
’21 defenseman Griffin Kology (Chatham) dislodged three turnovers and picked up three ground balls to lead the ‘Hoos defense.
Robert Morris 15, Wagner 8
’21 SSDM Brendan Cina (Sparta) collected two ground balls, set up a goal and took the ball away once for the Colonials.
Denver 13, Duke 6
’22 Luke Engelke (Pingry) went 16-for-21, complete with nine ground balls, at the faceoff stripe, for the Blue Devils. Duke also got a takeaway and a ground ball from ’20 defenseman Cole Krauss (Delbarton).
Princeton 13, Harvard 11
’24 Graham Stevens (Pingry) denied 11 shots sent his way in the Crimson cage and picked up a ground ball in the process.
Syracuse 16, Colgate 12
’21 Jack Turner (Ridge) scored twice and scooped up five ground balls for the Raiders.
Michigan 11, Maryland 10
’23 Sean Creter (Hunterdon Central) won four of eight faceoffs and picked up a pair of ground balls for the Terps.
Dartmouth 9, Penn 8
The Quakers got three ground balls and a caused turnover from ’22 LSM Ryan McLaughlin (Mountain Lakes).
Ohio State 13, Penn State 9
’21 defenseman Kevin Parnham (Pingry) was a force on the back end with three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls for the Nittany Lions. ’20 Jack Aimone (Hunterdon Central) tacked on an assist for Penn State.
Bucknell 11, Lehigh 10
’24 Charlie Sherman (Pingry) tallied once for the Mountain Hawks.
Sacred Heart 13, Merrimack 8
’24 Rob Tyra (Arthur L. Johnson) set up a goal for the Warriors.
Navy 9, Holy Cross 8
’21 SSDM Cal McPherson (Pingry) collected a pair of ground balls for the Crusaders.
Hofstra 15, Monmouth 9
’23 defenseman Dom Giglio (Wall) dislodged a pair of takeaways and grabbed a ground ball for the Hawks. Monmouth also got a caused turnover and a ground ball from ’22 Matt Dollive (Wall).

’23 Bo Page (Taft, Conn.) was superb in leading the Bantams to a pair of wins. He hit Scranton for three goals, an assist and three ground balls. Page followed it up with two goals, two assists, three ground balls and a caused turnover against Williams.
’22 Will Doran (Princeton) had a goal, an assist and two ground balls for the Ephs.
Washington & Lee 19, Shenandoah 7
Washington & Lee 21, Guilford 5
’24 LSM Gabe Reiter (Delbarton) sniped his first career goal to go with five ground balls and a caused turnover in the Generals’ sweep.
Gettysburg 12, Swarthmore 11
’21 Jack Dunleavy (Seton Hall Prep) tallied once, dished out two assists and picked up a ground as the Bullets topped the Garnet.
Middlebury 13, Connecticut College 8
’23 James Farinacci (Manasquan) paired a goal with an assist to fuel the Panthers’ win. Farinacci also tacked on two ground balls and a takeaway for a strong all-around game.
