Coach Mark Wilson has been deeply involved in lacrosse as a player and coach for over 30 years. A founding member of the Hillsborough High School team in 1989, he went on to play at Lehigh University, where his defense led Division I in goals against average during his senior season in 1994. He later began his coaching career at St. Joseph-Metuchen before returning to his alma mater, Hillsborough, where he set a program record with 100 wins and was named both Skylands Conference and NJSIAA Group IV Coach of the Year. Wilson also served as Defensive Coordinator for Somerville High School, earning additional recognition as NJSIAA Group II South Assistant Coach of the Year.
On the international stage, Coach Wilson has played a pivotal role in developing Jamaican lacrosse. He helped lead the inaugural men’s national team to a top-15 finish at the 2018 World Championships, later guiding the senior and U21 squads through successful world and regional competitions. In 2022, he was named Head Coach of the Jamaican Men’s National Team, leading them to a historic 8th-place world finish in 2023. Most recently, he guided the U20 Jamaican Men’s Team to the quarterfinals of the 2024 World Championship, becoming the only Jamaican coach to achieve that milestone with two different teams. Beyond his international work, Wilson has shared the game with his own children, coaching both his son and daughter, and now coaches at Gill St. Bernard’s High School. He resides in Fanwood, NJ, with his wife Dr. Adana Llanos Wilson, son Wynn, and daughter Hope.
