Playing back in New Jersey made Nick Blalock feel right at home.

The Leading Edge 2024 alum by way of Christian Brothers and Hill School (Pa.) was a force for Lafayette in a 19-9 rout at NJIT on Saturday. Blalock buried his first hat trick of the season and also handed out three assists to go with a ground ball as the Leopards rolled to their second win of the week. ’24 defenseman John Finkeldie (Delbarton) added a ground ball against the Highlanders.

Earlier in the week, Blalock supplied an assist, a takeaway and a ground ball to help Lafayette to its first win of the season, 10-9, over Binghamton.

’25 defenseman Quinn Kelly (Christian Brothers) loudly announced his arrival to college lacrosse with two caused turnovers and three ground balls to highlight a great day from the Crimson defense. ’24 goalie Graham Stevens (Pingry) was lights-out in the cage with eight saves and three ground balls as Harvard won its season opener.

Delaware 12, St. John’s 11

’23 John McCurry (Wall) collected a hat trick as the Blue Hens fended off the St. John’s upset bid.

’25 LSM Will Pedicano (Delbarton) handed out his first career assist to fuel the Blue Devils’ rout. ’21 goalie Henry Blake (Brewster, N.H.) was spotless in split duty, stopping both shots he faced and grabbing two ground balls in the process. ’22 faceoff midfielder Luke Engelke (Pingry) won a faceoff and picked up a ground ball for the Blue Devils.

’22 Cullen Decker (Chatham) and ’24 Sean McCeney (Summit) each had a goal and an assist in the Catamounts’ win over Queens. Decker also tacked on a ground ball in the victory.

’23 Trevor Brotons (North Hunterdon) buried his first career goal for the Mountain Hawks.

Notre Dame 16, Marquette 11

’23 All-American defenseman Shawn Lyght (Seton Hall Prep) grabbed three ground balls and caused a turnover as the Irish rolled in their season opener.

Colgate 7, Hobart 6

’22 defenseman Ryan Bilello (Manasquan) caused a turnover and snatched a ground ball to help the Raiders earn their first win of the year.

’22 Tyler Marmo (Avon Old Farms, Conn.) set up a pair of goals to kick start the Crusaders’ blowout win.

’24 Rob Tyra (Arthur L. Johnson) pocketed a pair of goals and took the ball away once to help the Warriors cruise past the Bulldogs.

’24 faceoff midfielder Jordan Hernando (Mountain Lakes) won four faceoffs and snagged a ground ball in the process. ’24 defenseman Kyle Capodanno (Manasquan) caused a turnover for the Bulldogs.

Drexel 15, UMBC 8

’24 defenseman Patrick Quinn (Seton Hall Prep) collected a ground ball to fuel the Dragons’ stingy defense.

’23 Ryan Demato (St. Augustine Prep) chipped in an assist for the Retrievers.

Robert Morris 16, Bucknell 12

’22 goalie Jaz Zanelli (Seton Hall Prep) stuffed five shots and picked up two ground balls for the Bison. ’23 defenseman Corbin Lukanski (Delbarton) caused a turnover for Bucknell.

Saint Joseph’s 11, Villanova 9

’23 LSM Jake Melchionni (Delbarton) caused a pair of turnovers and snared a ground ball for the Wildcats. Villanova also got an assist and a ground ball from ’25 Nolan Sabel (Seton Hall Prep).

Boston University 13, Dartmouth 5

’24 Quinn Stankovits (Deerfield, Mass.) snapped home his first career goal in the Big Green’s season opener.

Ohio State 14, Air Force 9

’25 defenseman Jack Gounaris (St. Augustine Prep) pilfered the ball away twice and grabbed two ground balls for the Falcons.

UMass 16, Quinnipiac 8

’25 Sean McCaffery (Allentown) won 11 of 19 faceoffs to go with two ground balls and a takeaway for the Bobcats.

LIU 9, Monmouth 8

’22 Matt Dollive (Wall) picked up a ground ball for the Hawks.

’23 goalie Nick Catino (Delaware Valley) stopped nine shots and grabbed a ground ball in split duty for Rollins.

’25 Phil Minardo (Delbarton) shined in his college debut, winning 10 of 14 faceoffs and grabbing a half-dozen ground balls to spark RIT’s win.

Babson 19, Wentworth 7

’25 Alex Schobel (Delbarton) started his college career with a bang, scoring on his lone shot to help the Beavers roll.

St. John Fisher 23, Oneonta 7

’25 John Korczukowski (Warren Hills) got on the board in his college debut, burying his only shot to lead St. John Fisher.

York 10, Washington & Lee 8

’25 Luke Caldwell (Hopewell Valley) made an instant impact for the Generals, scoring twice to go with two assists, a takeaway and a ground ball. ’22 James Haley (Westfield) paired a goal with an assist, while ’24 LSM Gabe Reiter (Delbarton) racked up two ground balls and a takeaway.
