Once again, Ryan Demato and the back of the cage got well acquainted.
The Leading Edge 2023 product by way of St. Augustine Prep was dialed in early and often in UMBC‘s 16-11 win over NJIT. Demato scored three of the Retrievers’ first four goals en route to a five-goal, one-assist, two-ground ball performance that clinched an America East Tournament berth for UMBC.
Demato’s five goals are a career high and it marked the talented marksman’s sixth hat trick of the season, including his fifth in the past six games.

’22 Cullen Decker (Chatham) erupted for a career-best six points on the strength of four goals and two assists, plus two ground balls, as the Catamounts pulled away from the Riverhawks. ’25 Sean McCeney (Summit) picked up a ground ball in the win.
Villanova 16, Marquette 15
’24 Ryan Martin (Christian Brothers) kickstarted the Wildcats’ comeback with a man-up tally with 4:29 to play to help Villanova storm back to win in overtime. Martin also handed out two assists for ‘Nova, which got two ground balls and a takeaway from ’23 defenseman Beau Kemler (Rumson-Fair Haven). ’22 David Link (Delbarton) set up a goal and caused a turnover in the win, while ’23 LSM Jake Melchionni (Delbarton) snared a pair of ground balls.

’23 Shawn Lyght (Seton Hall Prep) had a caused turnover and a ground ball and paced a stingy Irish defensive effort.
’25 LSM Will Pedicano (Delbarton) picked up a ground ball for Duke.

’22 LSM Ryan McLaughlin (Mountain Lakes) snapped home his second career goal and first of the season to go with a takeaway as the Quakers tamed the Bears in overtime.

’24 defenseman Michael Marshall (Westfield) caused a turnover to push the defending national champions to a rout of the Panthers.
’24 Quinn Stankovits (Deerfield, Mass.) scored twice and picked up a ground ball for the Big Green.

’23 Cole Cashion (Rumson-Fair Haven) continued his hot streak with five goals in two games, including a hat trick and a ground ball in the rout of the Great Danes. ’25 Asher Ziv (Pingry / Taft, Conn.) tallied twice for his first multi-goal game for Yale. ’25 Dylan Blekicki (Pingry) scored twice against Albany and dished out two assists against the Pride. ’22 LSM Konrad Miklaszewski (Montclair) vacuumed up a quartet of ground balls and caused a turnover against Hofstra before adding a ground ball against Albany.
’23 Lorenzo Varona (Somerville) set a career high in assists (two) and points (four) for Hofstra.

’23 John McCurry (Wall) buried a hat trick, including the goal that gave the Blue Hens the lead for good, to go with two ground balls and a caused turnover.
Bucknell 15, Holy Cross 13
’22 goalie Jaz Zanelli (Seton Hall Prep) blocked eight shots and snared four ground balls to help the Bison handle the Crusaders.
’22 Tyler Marmo (Avon Old Farms, Conn.) set up one of the Holy Cross goals.

’24 LSM Patrick Quinn (Seton Hall Prep) corralled a ground ball as the Dragons flew past the Seawolves.

’22 Will Doran (Princeton) went off for the Ephs, scoring six times, setting up three more, and corralling three ground balls as Williams split its week. ’24 Jack Sartorius (Delbarton) had a goal, an assist and three ground balls, while ’22 Cade Schuckman (Mountain Lakes) netted a pair of goals to go with a ground balls against Wesleyan.

’25 faceoff midfielder Phil Minardo (Delbarton) won 12 of 19 faceoffs, grabbed eight ground balls, scored a goal and caused a turnover to pace the Tigers’ win.
